This SpringerBrief provides a unique insight into the practice and research of the connections between voice, HCI and embodiment. Specifically, it explores how the voice can be embodied and mediated by means of gestural communication through sensor interfaces and aims to situate and contextualise various aspects that generate meaningful connections in such interactive interface performance. The author offers an approach for understanding creative practices between humans and computers in gestural live music performance, from the perspective of the embodied relationships created within such systems. Repetition has a major role in human culture. In lullabies and prayers, in protests and war cries: from the cradle to the grave, repetition is the companion to life’s essentials. In a constantly revolving world there is no pure repetition. Events never repeat themselves precisely. This is equally true of repetition in Literature and Art, where the use of repetition is varied and frequent. How does repetition work? And how can it be of use? Déjà Vu unravels these questions in fifteen chapters ranging from film remakes and Baudelaire to the offer of Abraham and David Lodge, Small World. Déjà Vu shows that repetition has been used worldwide through all times and cultures in visual arts, poetry, music, literature and motion pictures. Slaap - liedjes en smeekbeden, protesten en strijdkreten: van de wieg tot het graf begeleidt de herhaling de essentiële gebeurtenissen in het leven. Maar in een wereld die zelf voortdurend in beweging is, kan van zuivere herhaling geen sprake zijn. Je kunt onmogelijk tweemaal in dezelfde rivier stappen. Dat geldt ook in literatuur en kunst, waar herhaling veelvuldig wordt ingezet als artistiek middel. Daarbij is juist het verschil van essentieel belang. Maar wat is precies de aard van dat verschil? Wat 'doet' herhaling als kunstgreep met het werk? En hoe kan herhaling worden ingezet om gevestigde belangen en opvattingen te consoli - deren of juist te onder mijnen? Kollaboratives Arbeiten ist der Modus der Stunde. Kaum ein Projekt, das seine Bedeutung nicht auch über den Stellenwert des Zusammenarbeitens formuliert. Unsichtbar bleiben jedoch oftmals die (versteckten) Strukturen und Bedingungen, unter denen sich kollaborative Prozesse konstituieren und durchgeführt werden. Dies betrifft verinnerlichte Regelsysteme ebenso wie symbolische Ordnungen, Wissenshierarchien und Objektivationen, die innerhalb von Kollaborationen (implizit oder explizit) ausgehandelt werden. Der Band versammelt Perspektiven aus der Empirischen Kulturwissenschaft und benachbarten Disziplinen, die sich mit gegenwärtigen kollaborativen Prozessen befassen. De Sint-Lucasscholen vormen samen het katholieke luik van het kunst- en architectuuronderwijs in België. De scholen werden tot rond 1966 geleid door de broeders van de Christelijke Scholen. Vanaf 1866 hadden zij de strijd aangebonden met de als goddeloos beschouwde academies van de overheid. Met succes. Na honderd jaar hadden hun christelijke academies bijna de helft van het kunst- en architectuuronderwijs in België in handen. Het boek analyseert deze krachttoer en geeft een antwoord op de vraag hoe een relatief kleine groep broeders erin slaagde in Gent, Brussel en Wallonië een net van kunstacademies uit de grond te stampen. Het is een succesverhaal dat het resultaat was van een - niet zelden geheim - verbond tussen de broeders, de hogere clerus, de katholieke elite en de vrienden in de overheidsinstellingen. Het onderzoek over de geschiedenis van de Sint-Lucasscholen overstijgt de traditionele 'scholengeschiedenis'.
